Train the Trainer

Workplace trainer

Increasingly, supervisors and managers have the important responsibility of passing on their knowledge, and successfully training their team members.

This may be demonstrating the use of a piece of equipment to a new employee, showing a group of people a new safety procedure, or coaching and mentoring team members.

And increasingly, organisations are finding that their clients and auditors want to know that supervisors and managers are competent to train.

We can help you give your managers the skills they need. And if you prefer, we can also assess their competence in this area.

Presentation Skills and group training

If your managers and supervisors give presentations or even train groups of people, then they might benefit from training in these areas.

Coaching and mentoring

Many supervisors and managers are responsible for coaching or mentoring members of their team.

This can be organised through a formal in-house programme or it may be skills that employees are expected to use in their day-to-day work.

Qualifications and accreditations

You may need to show that not only do your employees have the skills but they also have the qualifications to prove this.  Often you will be asked for evidence employees have completed a ‘train the trainer’ course.

If you are looking for a ‘train the trainer’ qualification for your supervisors or managers, we can help you.  We offer a range of training qualifications from SQA and the Institute of Leadership and Management.

To find out more on any of the above, please get in touch.

Food Hygiene

Our short courses and workshops are designed to help companies quickly address their training needs so that they can operate hygienically, and produce products of the highest possible standard. This training can be tailored to your industry.

You might also find our practical guide on maintaining food safety in the workplace helpful.  This matches the requirements of legislation along with the requirements to cover knowledge for recognised vocational qualifications.

The areas we cover when delivering food hygiene training are:

  • Nature of food safety
  • Food poisoning
  • Pest control
  • Cross-contamination controls
  • Personal hygiene
  • Design and layout of premises
  • Equipment hygiene
  • Physical and chemical contamination
  • Temperature control
  • Food preservation
  • Legal requirements

HACCP

Why do you need HACCP Training?

It is a legislative requirement (EC 852/2004) that a Food Business Operator (FBO) has in place a Food Safety Management System based on HACCP principles.

The people involved in creating and implementing the HACCP plan must be trained and they must understand the role of HACCP within the business.  In giving them the training, they will better understand the requirements, which will lead to a stronger focus and increased awareness of the food safety management system.  They will understand the importance of maintaining the HACCP system and how it can affect themselves, the business and the end customer.

We have found that if employees have received HACCP training, they are more likely to understand the concept, the working practices associated with the plan and be more active in the process of implementing the system.

With our resources, qualified trainers, and our combined industry knowledge, together we can develop a more informed, competent and motivated workforce.

The training haccp

There are two options for training:

  1. We can train individuals to undertake the REHIS Introduction to HACCP or the Intermediate HACCP course depending on the company’s needs.
  2. We can train individuals using our own course which can be adapted to reflect your own business and its HACCP system.

For the second option, we will only require a copy of your HACCP plan in advance and a brief site visit to adapt our course to suit your processes.

Who conducts HACCP Training?

You will work with a consultant who is qualified to REHIS Advanced Level HACCP and has experience in the position of HACCP team leader and team member.

Internal Auditor

How we can help you with your internal audits……

The British Retail Consortium Global Food Safety Standard (Issue 6) requirement 3.4.2 states that internal audits must be conducted independently by an appropriately trained competent auditor.

By using a member of our team you can satisfy this requirement.  We are independent and objective, with many years food industry experience.  And we have also trained extensively in providing internal audits.

We can identify conformances/non conformances and in doing so, we can lighten the burden on your technical or quality assurance manager.  This frees them up to focus their time and resources on carrying out the agreed corrective action.

With more time and resources spent on rectification, together, we can make the system more robust and transparent.

We are able to bring our own method of reporting or if you prefer, we can use your existing reporting system.

Conforming standards

We can provide an internal audit solution which conforms to the British Retail Consortium standard and other retailer food manufacturing standards as required, e.g. SALSA and Tesco Food Manufacturing Standard.  An internal audit can be conducted to include all relevant standards in the one process.

Please get in touch if you would like to know more.
