ILM Endorsed Qualifications

Our endorsed qualifications are designed to meet the needs of supervisors and managers who need to develop their leadership and management knowledge and skills, but who would benefit from more practical workplace assignments than the ILM qualifications allow.

This means that although we include theory in the training, we can focus much more on how the supervisors and managers can apply their knowledge to their roles at work. The assignments are focused on the individuals roles at work, making it easier for them to transfer their learning back to the workplace.

Graduation Success at Baxters Food Group

Baxters Food Group and Polaris Learning Ltd are delighted to celebrate the success and graduation of candidates on the Baxters Food Group innovative Supervisors for the Future programme.

With the need in the North East to retain and promote existing employees, Baxters launched this programme to draw on the pool of talent they already had within the company.  This enables them to ensure retention of their key operators while creating a flow of talent for succession planning.

The focus of the programme was to ensure an effective blend of learning to include both people and technical skills required for managers in the food industry.

After a rigorous selection process the successful candidates worked towards full accreditation for an Institute of Leadership and Management Award as well as a Scottish Vocational qualification in Food and Drink Operations at Level 3.  The programme which was part funded by Skills Development Scotland on their Modern Apprenticeship programme was delivered through a variety of workshops, in-house assessment and assignments (supported by a full mentoring programme involving senior managers).

The final assessment, which was presented to the Board of Directors, was a group leading change project designed to incorporate all of their learning and look at innovative ideas to improve areas within the business.  One successful project is already in the early stages of implementation.

The programme is just the start of a variety of in-house training programmes being delivered throughout the company.

“The Supervisors for the Future programme has been a real success with many of the employees being promoted into supervisor roles with other candidates progressing to the next level of the ILM award. Polaris Learning has worked closely with Baxters to ensure the programme met our business requirements to develop our next generation of supervisors. The energy and drive from both the candidates and the Polaris Learning trainers has been superb!”

Quote from Kirstian Findlay, UK HR Manager, Baxters Food Group

Bibby Offshore wanted a tailored management development programme that would prepare future managers for their role.

This was a six month programme bringing onshore employees from across the business together.

Through a series of workshops and work place assignments, the employees achieved the Institute of Leadership & Management Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management.

"I think more like a manager.  I know how to handle situations, I know when to step in, I have more confidence in mentoring, delegating and using active listening." A new manager at Bibby Offshore.

Client Feedback

"The continued high level of service from Polaris Learning has allowed us to develop our training programmes at a much faster rate than envisaged. We are able to deliver a quality product to our clients which has always exceeded their expectation.

The training experience has always been both professional and knowledgeable, delivered at the correct pace for all concerned with a good mix of theory and practical skills training. Where necessary, the courses have been adjusted to a more 'company specific' standard, with all new materials being provided on time for the client.

When the vessel Skandi Arctic was added to our fleet, Polaris Learning provided hands on assistance in the development of new and very different competence frameworks around a very technical vessel. This allowed us to demonstrate very easily to our clients the abilities of both the crew, and the vessel to service their needs

The relationship that has built with Polaris Learning is of great value to us as a company. Polaris Learning, like ourselves were looking to develop long term 'partnerships' in the development of training and competence solutions which matched the requirements of Northern Marine exactly.

They are honest, professional and are full of integrity."
